So, Harvey Goldsmith thinks it’s a bad idea and so do we. A Plant-less Led Zeppelin on tour? Maybe them and the horrid Queen + Paul Rogers joke could co-headline.
Robert Plant, in an official statement via his website, has confirmed he would not join Page, Jones, and Bonham (Jason) on tour but wishes them “nothing but success.” C’mon, just say it, “as long as they don’t demean and utterly ridicule what the band did for rock ‘n roll by flaunting the Led Zeppelin moniker around the world with some singer stand-in.” You know, that would be like Queen getting back together and having someone like Paul Rogers singing “Under Pressure”… oh, wait…
John Paul Jones told BBC radio that they are looking into new singers and that they aren’t looking for a Robert Plant replica, “We don’t want to be our own tribute band [...] There’s no point in just finding another Robert.” Jones goes on to say, “There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be on board.” Minus, of course, Robert F-ing Plant. This could suck… really bad.
I’m hoping they bring Kid Rock on board… and get that dancing guy from Mighty Mighy Bosstones… and call themselves Cashbankorama… then, yes, this would be fabulous news. God help us.
