Sonic Youth To Release New Album on Matador Records

Great news, Sonic Youth is going back into the studio, thanks to Matador Records. From the Matablog:

After rampant speculation, Matador Records can confirm the label will be releasing a new studio album from Sonic Youth sometime in 2009. Having fulfilled their contractual obligations to the Universal Music Group, Sonic Youth recently reached an agreement with Matador to release the band’s 16th album of new material in all worldwide territories, save for Japan. About Rusted Noodle

First off, we like you. Second, we came up with Rusted Noodle a while ago. Thirdly, we have a lot planned for the Noodle, but aren't going to give it all away just yet (mainly because sites with beaucoup budgets will ransack our code and beat us to online music media glory). We're keeping it pretty simple right now; we'd love a little feedback. We don't take ourselves too seriously, however music, well that's a whole different monster... arrrr.
