Vote For Subterranean’s Best of 2008 Video
by, andy

In 2008 we, as casual music video viewers, did one of several things…  Perhaps you’re the sort who attentively paid close attention to each-and-every music video that came out from oh-so-many artists.  Or, you might identify with those who whilst being aware of many music videos, only streamed those of the artists that tickled their particularly refined fancy.  Or, behind door number 3, the music video world was dead to you when TRL aired it’s final transmission on November 16th, 2008.  Whatever the case may be, EVERYONE GETS TO VOTE!!!   MTV2 is hosting a Best Subterranean Video of 2008.  Despite some stiff competition, Rusted Noodle* is hereby endorsing the Black Lips as their candidate of choice.

There’s a heap of music vids worthy of your vote… Read more of: Vote For Subterranean’s Best of 2008 Video

TV On The Radio: “Dear Science”
Average USER Rating: 8 out of 10

So the world is in the toilet, and we’re all pretty bummed.  It’s not all that bad though kiddo, hold that chin up.  Some grim news sure, but you couldn’t have asked for a better messenger.  TV on the Radio’s Dear Science assumes the role of said messenger, and aims to paint a rather stark picture of the world’s current condition. But it’s always good to hear bad news from someone dear (tee-hee), and Dear Science delivers the news gift wrapped in a soulful funk’ified package, bedazzled in such a manner that you forgot why you were so bummed out in the first place.  It’s like Patch Adams giving you the prognosis… yeah, there’s the whole malignant cancer thing, but he’s got a clown nose!

"The bonus tracks are a bonus, and only that... they help the buyer cope with their purchase in these dire economic times... The band gets to be arty and see their visions materialize, and we get giddy enjoying our extra songs. Win/win. Bottom Line: There's a reason these songs didn't make the cut. Dear Science is a Whiz-Bang of an album... and despite the fact that some of these extra tracks are catchy, TVOTR decided to trim the fat, and deliver a lean, mean, funky-as-all-gettup machine. Live with it."

The Noodle staff will be at the San Diego Street Scene, with unabashed fanboy enthusiasm, hooting and hollering for TVOTR.  Anyone else going?  Find us, we’ll be wearing Noodle gear.

Also, listen to Dear Science, in it’s entirety at Last.fm.

"WOOHOO! I'm going too...I can't wait! I'm excited for Beck, of course, TVOTR, Cat Power...although she was trashed last time we saw her- hope for better luck this time-ha. Devotchcka is a great pleasure to listen to, Tegan and Sara are a breath of fresh air, and I am super pumped to see Atmosphere- so good! So many more...It will be difficult to see all the bands I want to see...does the "Foundry" section of this site have a way to be at four stages at once? Now THAT would be a useful bit of technology..."

A Tidbit
About Rusted Noodle

First off, we like you. Second, we came up with Rusted Noodle a while ago. Thirdly, we have a lot planned for the Noodle, but aren't going to give it all away just yet (mainly because sites with beaucoup budgets will ransack our code and beat us to online music media glory). We're keeping it pretty simple right now; we'd love a little feedback. We don't take ourselves too seriously, however music, well that's a whole different monster... arrrr. We'll update this later to sound more hip and more like them and them (insert wily emoticon). Later, friends.
